Honouring Culture Through Art: A Gift from Kelly Robinson

We are deeply grateful to artist Kelly Robinson for his generous gift of a powerful Thunderbird and Whale carving, symbols of strength and transformation in Ahousaht culture.

It is with deep gratitude that we thank renowned Nuu-chah-nulth artist Kelly Robinson for his incredible gift to our housing society—a beautifully carved Thunderbird and Whale. These figures are deeply meaningful within Ahousaht culture, representing strength, protection, and transformation.

This striking piece will serve not only as a visual centrepiece but as a reminder of the powerful stories and traditions that ground us. It reflects our shared values of resilience, community, and respect for cultural identity—principles that guide everything we do.

Kelly has shared that the name of the carving has not yet come to him, but we look forward with anticipation to learning what it will be called. In Indigenous tradition, names carry spirit and meaning, and we know that when the name arrives, it will be just right.

And what a awesome piece of Art.
