Hi everyone, Jude here from the Citaapi Mahtii Housing Society!
We know many of you have been wondering what’s happening behind the scenes with our housing project, and we’re excited to share that we’re getting very close to completion on our beautiful new 35-unit affordable housing development here in Port Alberni.
This project has been a labour of love, and we’re thrilled to offer a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space specifically designed to support Indigenous individuals and families in our community.
We’re proud to offer three different rent structures to meet a range of needs:
- Geared-to-Income (G.I.) Units: These units are set at 30% of your income, making them an accessible and sustainable option for many households.
- Market Value Units: These will be offered just below the current average rental prices in Port Alberni, providing an affordable alternative to private market rentals.
- Deep Subsidy Units: Designed to support people with disabilities (PWD) or those on income assistance, these units ensure that even the most financially vulnerable community members have a place to call home.
We’re not just building housing—we’re building a community. We can’t wait to fill the building with new tenants and start creating a vibrant, supportive environment that will be the envy of Port Alberni.
Stay tuned for more updates as we move closer to opening day. We’re looking forward to welcoming our new residents and watching this beautiful vision come to life.
Thanks for your support!
— Jude
